The No. 5 seeds Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka took their first Cincinnati title in a summer that has already seen them finish as runners-up at Wimbledon and the silver medalists at the London Olympics.
Against the No. 8 seeds Katarina Srebotnik and Zheng Jie, the Czech team and 2011 Roland Garros champions won 6-1, 6-3 in exactly an hour on the Grandstand.
Hitting four aces to their opponents’ one, Hlavackova and Hradecka, who have collected eight Tour titles together over the course of their partnership, dominated their opponents on serve. They won five break points to eight earned total, while Srebotnik and Zheng only capitalized on one of three throughout the match.
On the way to the finals, the team of Hlavackova and Hradecka upset the No. 2 seeds Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci in the quarterfinals.
For the runners-up, this is the first tournament of their partnership, although both have enjoyed successful doubles careers in the past with other players. While Srebotnik owns 30 doubles titles, Zheng has 14.
