Federer Dominates Raonic, Ferrer Ends Benneteau’s Cincy Run

Roger Federer rolls through to the W&S Open final with a straight set win over Raonic.
Ferrer ends Frenchman Julien Benneteau's W&S Open run.

No.2 seed Roger Federer dominated Milos Raonic in their semifinal meeting on Saturday, defeating the young gun 6-2, 6-3 for a spot in the Western & Southern Open Men’s Final.

Federer, who advances to his 121st career final and 38th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 final, broke the Canadian three times in the 68 minute match and did not lose a point on his serve in the first set.

Federer will take the court Sunday in the hopes of taking home his record sixth title in Cincinnati. The former World No.1 will face a familiar face in the final, Spaniard David Ferrer. Federer holds a 15-0 record against the No.6 seed. The two faced each other just last week in Toronto, with the Swiss man winning it in three sets.

World No. 6 Ferrer breezed in to the final with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Julien Benneteau Saturday afternoon.

Ferrer, who is through to his seventh Masters 1000 final, advanced to his first final in Cincinnati with the 72 minute win over the Frenchman.

In the first set alone, the Spaniard hit twice as many winners as Benneteau, while capitalizing on four of 10 break opportunities and fighting off the one break point he faced.

When asked about his opponent in the final, Ferrer said, “Roger, I never beaten him. Tomorrow it's one important final for me…it will be playing my best tennis for win the match.”

The men will take the court at 4pm tomorrow at the Lindner Family Tennis Center for the final.
