The No. 3 seeds Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova defeated unseeded Natalie Grandin and Vladmira Uhlirova to take their first title of the season together 6-4, 3-6, 11-9 in the tiebreak.

For the men, the No. 3 seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes defeated No. 4 seeds Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic 7-6, 7-6 in front of an electric crowd on the Grandstand.

King and Shvedova, who won the 2010 Wimbledon and US Open titles and made the 2011 French Open semifinals earlier this year, needed just under two hours to take out the Budapest runners-up.

To get to the Cincinnati finals, Grandin and Uhlirova upset the World No. 1s and 2011 Wimbledon champions Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik 6-1, 6-4. This was the fifth championship match of their partnership. Grandin and Uhlorova, ranked No. 36 and No. 37 in doubles, respectively, are now 0-5 in finals together.

Finishing runner-up at the Australian Open earlier this year, the 2001 Cincinnati titlists Bhupathi and Paes upset 11-time Grand Slam tournament champions and top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan 1-6, 7-6(2), 10-7 to advance to the finals.

Bhupathi and Paes now enjoy a 25-8 match record in 2011, opening the season by winning Chennai. Later in the year, they claimed the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title in Miami. In June, they finished as finalists at Queen’s.

Their opponents Llodra and Zimonjic won titles two consecutive weeks at Washington and Montreal to face Bhupathi and Paes. They also reached the finals in Rotterdam and Madrid.
