Being a Ballperson

Becoming a ballperson is a great way to see tennis closer than you ever have before. Joining the ball team is also an excellent way to meet new friends, exercise and enjoy the sun at the same time. Ballpersons must possess speed and agility, have good hand and eye coordination, and a strong understanding of tennis rules and etiquette.

1) Ballpersons must be 12 years of age by August 1, 2012.

2) All new and 2nd year ballpersons must attend one of the following weekend tryout sessions held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center (must attend both days):

  • May 19 & 20, 10AM - NOON
  • June 9 & 10, 10AM - NOON

Tryouts will be held rain or shine at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

3) You must work at least 5 shifts to meet the minimum tournament requirement. New and second year ballpersons are required to work the first 5 days of the tournament, Aug 11-15.

Day matches can run into the early evening hours. Ballpersons with 3 or more years of experience can sign up for any shift. Ballpersons must be able to stay until the matches are completed.

4) Two check must be received at tryouts (made payable to Cincinnati Tennis LLC)

  • $50 for the purchase of tournament tennis shoes
  • $50 deposit check to be held until completion of the tournament and returned if the ballperson fulfills the minimum of 5 shifts
