USTA announces new rule change for 10-and-under Tennis

The USTA announced today that it has passed new rules governing competition for 10-and-under tennis tournaments. The new rules require that 10-and-under tournaments be played using slower-moving and lower-bouncing balls, on smaller courts and utilizing shorter, lighter racquets. The rule change follows the International Tennis Federation’s recent rule change and will take effect on January 1, 2012. It will apply to all USTA-sanctioned events for children 10-and-under. Patrick McEnroe resigns as Davis Cup Captain; Announces team to face Colombia

After 10 years as U.S. Davis Cup captain, Patrick McEnroe will resign his position immediately after the Davis Cup World Group Playoffs against Colombia, Sept. 17-19. McEnroe announced his intentions during a press conference at the 2010 US Open and also announced that Sam Querrey, John Isner, Mardy Fish and Ryan Harrison will be on the team that will travel to Colombia to try to keep the U.S. team’s spot in the World Group for next year.
