Tennis Takes Center Stage Downtown on Fountain Square with Free Community Events

Free tennis events include exhibition match with ATP players and Wayne Bryan, Mini-Tennis Open competition, cardio tennis instruction and more

The USTA/Midwest Section will host free community tennis events on August 13 in downtown Cincinnati at Fountain Square from Noon -1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The free tennis event schedule includes the following activities:

Noon-12:30 p.m. – Short court exhibition match featuring two ATP professional players from the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters, and officiated by Wayne Bryan, tennis instructor and father of ATP doubles champions Mike and Bob Bryan

12:30-1:00 p.m. – Cardio Tennis Demonstration for participants led by former WTA player Angela Farley-Wilson

5:00-7:00 p.m. – ‘USTA Fountain Square Mini-Tennis Open’, short courts and instruction courts. Players sign up on site and compete on doubles teams in the Mini-Tennis Open for the chance to win two tickets to the Western & Southern men’s semifinals matches on August 18. Also, short courts will be set up for participants to receive instruction led by USPTA professionals. In addition, short court tennis nets will line the street for participants of all ages to experience the game.

Currently, the USTA/Midwest Section exceeds 81,000 individual members and approximately 1,000 member organizations. It is the second largest section of the United States Tennis Association, the National Governing Body for tennis in the U.S. The USTA/Midwest Section is composed of 14 Districts in the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin as well as several counties in West Virginia and Kentucky.
